Abduction is rarely the only crime with which one in charged in these circumstances, and the variety of abduction cases is endless. I believe the maximum sentence for abduction in most areas is 15-20 years in prison. If it was a parental abduction where the parent didn't intend any harm to the child, just wanted their child, then jail isn't likely if the parent has no criminal record. If its a true stranger abduction off the street, then of course the sentence will be harsher.
